Men's Leather Coats

Men's leather coats and overcoats in longer lengths, cut to layer over a suit, a shirt or a heavy sweater. A coat adds coverage and structure that a hip-length jacket can't.

Choose from real and faux leather; each product page lists the material and length. Allow room across the shoulders for whatever you'll wear underneath, and see our Size Guide for measuring tips.

Choosing your leather jacket

How can I tell real leather from faux leather?

Real leather is made from animal hide, so every piece has small natural variations in its grain, a slightly irregular cut edge and a distinctive smell. Faux leather is a plastic coating (usually PU or PVC) on a fabric backing, with a very even, uniform surface. Check the material details on each product page to see what a style is made from.

How should a leather jacket fit?

Close but not tight. The shoulder seams should sit at the edge of your shoulders, you should be able to cross your arms and reach forward comfortably, and the sleeves should end around your wrist bone. Leave a little room for whatever you plan to wear underneath, such as a T-shirt or a light knit.

How do I choose my size?

Measure your chest at its fullest point and compare it with the size information for the style you like. If you're between sizes, size up for layering or a more relaxed fit, and size down for a closer fit. Not sure? Contact us with your measurements and we'll help you choose.

Will a new leather jacket feel stiff?

A new leather jacket can feel firm at first. With regular wear it softens and begins to follow the way you move, and creases form naturally at the elbows and shoulders. That's normal, and part of how leather takes on character over time.

How do I care for my jacket?

Hang it on a wide, padded hanger, away from direct heat and sunlight, and let it breathe (avoid plastic covers). Wipe off dust and marks with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Condition real leather now and then with a product made for leather garments, testing it on a hidden spot first. Always follow the care label on your jacket.

Can I wear it in the rain?

A little light rain is fine for most leather jackets. Blot off the water with a soft cloth and let the jacket dry naturally at room temperature, away from radiators and hair dryers. Avoid soaking it, and check the care label for your style.
